Take Control Of The Fear In Your Life Right Now
Become mindful and journal.
Writing things down…
Get a piece of paper and write down your fear that has been holding you back and causing chaos in your life. Whatever age you are at, write down all your thoughts and feelings and emotions… remember you are not your fears.
By doing this you become more aware of your emotions.
Journal all of your fears on paper. This helps immensely and is important, as when you are constantly thinking about the problem it just goes
around and around in circles, and this gets you nowhere. So, remember to write it down. Some people find that by writing it down the fear goes away.
Start to clarify what the fear is.
What specifically do you fear?
Look at the pictures in your head, see what you see, hear what you hear and feel how you feel and write it all down. Write down what you are scared of. Become an observer of your own inner space.
Start to become inquisitive.
They say that ‘curiosity killed the cat’ – which is an old saying, so it will certainly do you no harm investigating your own fears.
Have a go at getting curious about what the thoughts are that add ammunition to your fears and how you react to them. Again, be the observer of what you see, hear, and feel. What is going on in your life?
Be thankful.
We can all look at the negative situations in our lives. Have you ever thought about why some people are so happy? Peoples glasses are either half full or half empty; what is yours?
Be grateful for what you have in your life right now.
For example, most people fear public speaking, it is said to be feared as much as death. So let’s turn this around and say how grateful you are to having the opportunity to talk to so many people, with so many people to communicate your message too, and that these people are the ones that are genuinely interested in your message, and are seriously interested in what you have to say.
Chatting
Chatting is good. A problem shared is a problem halved as the saying goes.
But don’t throw a ‘pity party’ for yourself. Take responsibility for yourself, don’t focus on being the victim; you don’t want to come across that these fears are not your fault and everyone else’s.
Reading
Reading is amazing, and sadly a lot of people have not picked up a book since leaving school or education. However, reading is really good for you and can change your mindset; our brains are like sponges ready to absorb. I love reading motivational books and inspirational self-development books; learning from amazing people.
A good book to read is ‘Susan Jeffers – Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’.
Action
Take action today.
Fear is created by our imagination growing out of control. When you take action your fears become weaker, because you realise that reality is not as bad as your imagination.
Diet
It’s not just what you feed your body with regarding good quality food. Cut down on sugars which are addictive and the chemicals sweeteners that are put into our food as these influence our body and can result in it being out of balance.
The best diet is one of plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. It’s important to avoid convenient, processed meals. See how your body begins to feel.
However, it’s not just food we eat; what do you feed your mind? What is your mental diet? Do you feed your brain with the soaps and read the trashy magazines? As this, believe it or not, can influence your mental health.
Exercise
Plan to get in 30 minutes of exercise every day. This will help release the happy endorphins. Again a lot of us have not done any proper exercise since leaving school. A lot of us don’t even do any walking, as we have the car that we jump into when we want to go to the local shops.
I’m not saying that you need to join the local gym, but just going for a 30-minute walk each day will help you to feel better.
